A few days ago, during my meditation practice, I saw a very vivid dragonfly floating around me in a meadow. It was beautiful and peaceful and made me feel at ease. I was filled with incredible energy in my entire body and I didn’t want the imagery to go away. I wanted to stay in this meadow with the dragonfly. Then I was told to write a blog. I didn’t really understand why or what was so significant about this dragonfly I saw. Why was I to write a blog about dragonflies?!?!
As soon as I got out of my meditation, I immediately started looking up the meaning of seeing a dragonfly. It only took me about 10 seconds to realize the significance of seeing that dragonfly. But for you to fully understand, I have to preface it with part of my journey that led me to this vision in my meditation.
In 2020, after the world started to shut down, I was a little lost, kind of like everyone else. At my current job, I run marketing events – primarily in-person events, all over the country. When I couldn’t do that anymore, and we were working to pivot into new ways of getting our messaging out, it actually allowed me more time to slow down. More time to be more present and mindful. More time with my family. But mostly more time to look within. I went through a transformation of mind and spirit by learning how to meditate, journaling and writing. I started really thinking about my purpose. I’ve always known I was going to do something big and change the world in some way, but I was never sure how. My life continued to just get busier and busier, year after year, and I came to the realization during this “quiet” time of life that I had been living in fight or flight, waking up every day in autopilot, rushing around, and looking to the external to bring peace or happiness in some way. It took an airport breakdown from an insane work travel schedule that led me to realize something wasn’t working. It was only months after I had started to awaken from that breakdown that I was given the gift of this quiet place to dive deeper and go further into that transformation within me.
As I started meditating, taking walks and journaling, I started getting clarity and this in return allowed me to have a new awareness and so much more inner peace. I got the title of my book I’m in the process of writing along with the name of my blog (now business) and the AABL philosophy I write about on this website. I was turning inward and climbing into my highest self and purpose more and more each day.
Until I wasn’t.
Somewhere along my journey that fall, I started to fall back into my old self. I started turning the pages of my life backwards instead of forwards and my old perceptions, learned behaviors, negative emotions and ways of thinking crept back in like a thief in the night. I got distracted. Severely distracted from turning inwards. I was living back in the external. I was back on autopilot. I lost sight of everything I had worked so hard to learn and that inner peace changed back into the overwhelming tiredness, worry & stress I’d once been able to overcome.
It took me a year and half to find this place again. In December 2021, I got an undeniable tug at my heart to get back to that place I once found through a podcast I had once found and downloaded but never listened to. Right when I listened to the first episode, I knew the Universe, God, was speaking directly to me. I was yearning for that peace, for that purpose, for my soul’s highest calling. So I dove back in to my practice. Not only did I start really learning how to meditate, even better than before, but I read books and researched so much more. I was resonating so much with the podcast, I ended up reading her book and jumping into her 12 week coaching program. Her podcast also led me to the work of Mike Dooley and Infinite Possibilities, which led me to his trainer workshop which led me to now be a certified trainer! All of this had led me to really work on my limiting beliefs, my imposter syndrome, trusting myself and my power and learning how to truly manifest the life of my dreams. I am receiving downloads and clarity about my highest calling and purpose. I see visions of what I will do. I am now putting inspired action into the achievement of everything I see that I will do and I feel so aligned, so at ease, so at peace. How will I get there? That’s not my business. The Universe will show me day by day as I take inspired action and keep diving within to find these answers.
So in this moment of my life, during my new beginning, and one of my truest and highest transformations yet, I saw this beautiful dragonfly clear as day during my meditation and now I will tell you what that means.
What I learned is that the spiritual meaning of dragonflies is simply “light of God”. A dragonfly is a symbol of change, transformation and self-realization. It teaches us to love life, to rejoice and have faith even amidst difficulties. First and foremost, the dragonfly is the symbol of change and transformation. When you start seeing a dragonfly, it may be a sign that you are about to experience a transformation. It is a sign that changes are coming your way. The change that the dragonfly symbolizes is concerned with your mental and emotional self. You are about to experience changes that you need most in your life at this moment. You are about to mature in your life journey. Like the dragonfly maturing as it spreads its wings, your whole life, especially your spirit life is about to unfold. You are about to spread your wings and transform into your best and highest self.
It is a reminder to simply be open to every blessing and guidance from your spirit guides. In connection to the changes and transformation coming to you, the dragonfly also serves as a reminder for you to take action. You must make that decision you have been putting off for some time now. Although you are blessed with many opportunities as you become more aware and more conscious of your higher self, you need to remember that you are being guided to making the best decision at the best time. When you let fear, resistance or procrastination overwhelm you, you will let the best opportunities for you, pass you by.
Another message from the dragonfly could be around adaptability. When you are seeing a dragonfly, it calls for you to watch and observe it and learn from it. When you see a dragonfly flit and fly about, you will see how flexible and reflexive they are. Their lightness lets them maneuver effortlessly in the air.
Let yourself be influenced by the dragonfly so you can maintain a sense of flexibility and adaptability as you face inevitable challenges in your life. The dragonfly symbolizes lightness in your emotions and thoughts.
When a dragonfly is showing itself to you, you are reminded to keep having a positive attitude and outlook in life. You may see it when you are starting to get overwhelmed by doubts, fears and anxiety. Let go of your negative thoughts and live life joyfully and lightly without being complacent.
Lastly, the dragonfly also symbolizes your search for your true self and the knowledge of your inner self. It is reminding you to look deep inside you and understand everything that makes you who you are.
So in essence, here are the powers of the Dragonfly:
1) Symbolic Dragonfly meaning convers deep soul expression, and opens the portal for transformation and change.
2) The Dragonfly is the spirit animal of pure potential and breaking free of old paradigms, bringing new self-awareness, adaptability and perspectives.
3) The spiritual meaning of the Dragonfly reveals a path to freedom, to new worlds and new ways of being.
4) Dragonfly holds the totem powers and secrets of bringing telepathic messages carried on the wind.
Now you see why this dragonfly brought me so much peace and joy. It symbolized that I am going through transformation and bringing me through new levels of self-awareness. It showed me that my new ways will open new doors of opportunities and new ways of being.
By going inward and paying more attention to ourselves, this is the first step to embracing our true, authentic selves. Let your true self shine the way the dragonfly’s wings shine in the light. Be more open to guidance. Becoming more open with our spirit guides will allow them to shine their light brighter on our paths.
“Dragonflies are reminders that we are light and we can reflect light in powerful ways if we choose to do so.” ― Robyn Nola
